I had been participating in the long distance swim at camp for 5 years. One year I decided to partake- the water was choppy, cold fairly unsafe- I wanted to do it anyway, resulting in what was very close to hypothermia. It was really scary experience. What once was a tradition with positive memories became something I became afraid of and feared in just a year; a summer.
