Nanoose Bay, BC - Terry David Mulligan

My Watermark is Nanoose Bay, BC.

I’m the son of a Game Warden, now called a conservation officer. As a result I spent my childhood all the way up to High School Graduation on and around water. Rivers, Lakes and Oceans. Water was just part of my life. As important as food, music and sleep.

Then I became a member of the RCMP and was posted in Alberta. Much later in life, I realized that I had been surrounded by amazing fishing streams and lakes and never once thought to take advantage! I had lost my connection to water.

When it finally hit me that I had left my water link behind I did everything I could to get back to it. Plus I took my children with me so they could make an early connection. Now I have the best connection ever.

My home and studio hang over the waters of Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island. I watch the tides change, the tugs work, the birds swoop and dive. The connection is complete.

Even though he’s no longer with me, my Father would be very happy to see me return to the water!
