Skootamatta Lake, ON - Tess L

This summer, I went tubing at my friends cottage on Skootamatta Lake, Ontario, Canada.

It was a cold August day and raining, so we waited for the rain to stop. Once the rain stopped and the sun came out, we got on the tube behind the boat and were off into the center of the deep, cold and dark blue lake. Even though the rain had stopped, it was still windy. It was so windy that with the fast speed of the boat, our tube started floating in the air. The wind was even stronger while our tube was flying in the air, and I couldn't hold onto the handles anymore. As I fell off of the tube and landed in the bottomless foggy and chilled water, I could see the sun rays peeking through the waves, different shades of blue started showing in the water.

As I came out of the water I noticed the sun became very strong and bright after the clouds moved out of the way and it lit up the lake. Instead of seeing a dark blue lake, it was now a light blue colour. It was very pretty and I had never seen a lake of that colour before. It was gorgeous, and generations after us should have the opportunity to see and experience the sight. It is worth seeing, and should be protected.
