El Chaltén, Argentina - Amartya Saha

A lake receiving glacial melt from the Southern Patagonian Ice field, below the iconic Fitz Roy mountain range, very heavily visited by trekkers in the summer and autumn. Is still in good condition. It’s almost at the end of the world, yet very easily accessible from El Chaltén. The lake then feeds springs that hydrate a large wetland below, in a valley with bonsái Forests of beech, bonsái owing to the high winds and cold winters that stunt growth. A very unique yet accessible place.
