Mitchell's Bay, ON - Harrison S
When I was young at the bay, I remembered playing pirates with my brother along the shore. We were hunting for gold with our metal detectors and magnets. I remembered building boats with inflatables that could sail to the deep end and fight off the sea monsters that we imagined, taking us far away from the world. By the shore, I could picture myself finding a massive rat snake slithering quietly through the rough shore. At this time, I genuinely felt thrilled.
When I was young at the bay, I remember hearing kids laughing. It was inevitable. The water and the sand and the rocks felt very pleasant. My aunt brought leftover hot dogs from our campfire last night, it was the perfect food to enjoy in the calm water. I smelled the deep aroma of the tasty food and imagined the adventure to come.
When I was young at the bay, I felt so curious wondering what was beyond eye view of the water and what it would be like to be stranded at sea. I would have been nervous. I was young and scared of what was lurking in the water. However it made me happy seeing how beautiful and clean and transparent the water was when I swam through it, it was like I was flying through the air. It made me feel like I was staring into the heart of our galaxy inside.
At the bay, I remember I looked forward going to our aunt's cottage. It was a yearly tradition I will never forget. My aunt always brought butter tarts that were sweet and soft and so good. I remembered going to a local restaurant, that was the first time I ever tried crab. I feel like the bay is an important part of my life. It holds memories and thoughts and feelings.
