Lake Huron, ON - Aythen G

When I was young at the lake, I would smell the summer breeze and I hear the warm, sandy, powerful breeze pushing all the umbrellas around. I remember feeling the warm sand in between my toes and when I had to wash it all off to go back in the car. I remember all the long and calm and fun car rides heading to the lake. My family and I would make jokes the whole way there and laugh together.

When I was young at the lake, I would take in the smell of the subs from our cooler that we brought. I would taste the refreshing, cold, colourful Gatorade that we would drink on the shore. I remember how I would feel the grainy, wet, cold sand deep in the holes that me and my sister would dig. I would feel the water droplets hit my skin like when my dad and my sister would splash me in the lake.

When I was young at the lake, I felt the water stream slowly, steadily, calmly run off my skin as I slowly walked out of the water to dry off. I will always remember sitting on my towel watching the big, expensive, fancy boats fly across the water. When I was relaxing, I could hear all the seagulls chirping and circling and flying above me wanting my whole lunch. I remember guarding my food and never letting them take it from me.

At the lake, I remember walking along the shore looking for the shimmering, eroded, smooth beach glass getting pushed by the waves. The hot sun pressed against my skin and yet I continued searching for my treasures. I will always remember being amazed by all the vibrant colours around me. I will always look forward to going back.
