North Saskatchewan River, AB - Alix Krahn

My Watermark is the North Saskatchewan River, Alberta.

The North Saskatchewan River is the major feature of the city I grew up in, and it shaped my childhood in many ways. I remember going to so many festivals on the banks, and dangling my feet in the water to cool off.

I loved to think of the journey the water took, from falling out of the sky as a snowflake, to being frozen for thousands of years in the Saskatchewan glacier, and then melting and coming all the way to Edmonton and still being cold enough to cool my toes down on a hot day. It's too cold though sometimes! I fell in once trying to dangle my feet out of a canoe, you gotta try everything once right?
