I climbed Mt Rinjani in Lombok Indonesia in 1995 with a group of friends. We had a wonderful experience but ran out of water on our descent. In order to keep hydrated we were forced to drink fresh water out of a stagnant rain pool. Fortunately we had some iodine pills to kill the bacteria in the water prior to drinking. The experience made us all realize how much we take fresh water for granted in our daily lives.
