Last spring, back in May, I helped deliver a boat from the Mediterranean, from Mahon in Menorca across to the Caribbean, but we ended up sailing it to the Cape Verde Islands. The experience was unbelievable. Most of my life I’ve sailed in inland lakes. A little bit on the eastern seaboard of Canada and the US. But for the most, in the Great Lakes or in the smaller inland lakes in Ontario. What really blew my mind was the size and the expansiveness the Mediterranean, and right after that the Atlantic. It really home how so many communities and people depend on the water. Especially when you get out into the Canary and Verde Islands, how much of their culture and life is based around the sea.
