My name is Krystyn Tully and I am one of the co-founders of Lake Ontario Waterkeeper. I grew up in Oshawa Ontario.

Oshawa Ontario is located right on the north shore of Lake Ontario and that’s the body of water that has had the biggest influence on my life but it’s not a typical watermark story. For me I actually grew up in a place where it was too polluted to go swimming and the only fish that I saw were dead on the shore at the beach in Oshawa. It wasn’t until I was in my early 20s that I realized that that wasn’t normal and that that wasn’t the way that the lake was supposed to be and that there were actions that that people could take that would potentially bring back Lake Ontario and make is swimmable, drinkable fishable. For me the Oshawa beach is a reminder that things can get better and they do get better and everyone has a right to swim, drink and fish.
