Lake Ontario, ON - Justin Cao
I've lived in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area most of my life, and Lake Ontario has always been my anchor. It's my point of reference, and in short, it's home. When I was young I spent multiple summers in sailing camp in the Toronto Harbour. It was my first regularly intimate interaction with the water itself, and those outings are still fond memories for me. More recently, I've lived within sight of the lake for the last 5 years; sometime in Hamilton and now in Mimico. I walk by the lake several times a week and enjoy kayaking and wading in the summer. Lake Ontario is a source of peace and calm for me, and is a key part of life for so many people in the area. It deserves so much more attention and respect than it gets today.
