Port Stanley, ON - Leen A
When I was young at the beach, I saw water splashing. I saw my friends having fun, enjoying the time we were there. I remember everyone showing their smiles, running around like there is no tomorrow. Not only that, but I was looking at my friends making sand castles, eating, drinking. I felt very relaxed and happy looking at the bright high waves after the sun reflected on them, remember standing up observing around and seeing people playing football in the water tackling, splashing, screaming. At that moment I felt that I needed to stretch, so I would do my favourite thing. I would go for a walk looking at people sunbathing and little kids with their tiny legs running to the water, to put water buckets with water, using it to build sand castles. While walking, I saw two kids chasing each other having a water fight, until their parent joined in and said “I am going to get you”, splashing them with water, they both ran away while laughing.
When I was young at the beach, I tasted the cold, crunch, salty sand going into my mouth as I swam in the water. I felt the cold water rushing up and down my body, I also heard the breeze whooshing when I came out of the water to sit down next to the shore. I remember feeling that ticklish slight touch on my toe, it felt like someone softly touching me with their tips of their fingers. When we later we ate, I could taste the sand that somehow landed went on to my food. I remember having a very fun and exciting time trying to swim with then water hitting me and going into my mouth I would quickly spit it out, but it left a lingering salty beach taste in my mouth.
When I was young at the beach, I felt very happy that I could go with my friend and, I also felt suffocated because of the strong waves that pinned me to the ground. At that moment, I could feel the stress of being stuck in the water. That experience felt very intense but interesting to me, at that moment because I felt both sad and excited to show my competitive side. I was curious and needed to beat the waves like it was a game, bashing and digging my legs in the sand trying to see if I could stand still and not move an inch, If only I had the strength to win that game.
At the beach with my friends, I will always remember when I played volleyball with them and it became competitive. One thing I loved was beating my family and friends while playing sports. This would be something I will always look back to because of the bond we shared. At that moment I felt all sorts of emotions, but most of all it was happiness and teamwork that we all showed.
