Georgian Bay, ON - James H

At the end of Summer 2019, my family and I went tubing in Georgian Bay, near Penetanguishene. It started off great. We were bumping along the waves, with the sun shining down brightly, and the deep, murky water below. We then hit a massive wave, and it caught my brother, Peter, off guard. His legs fell in the water and he was barely holding on. He kept on shouting help, and Michael and I kept on trying to pull him back on, but it was no use. We went around a turn, and I saw the next part in slow motion. Peter’s swim trunks slipped off, and sunk. At first I was shocked. Then, Michael and I were laughing and laughing.

At this point, Peter was on the ropes. He was holding on by two fingers. He then fell off. Dad picked him up and he had to go in the tube with only a swim shirt because we had guests in the boat and they didn’t really want to see that. As we were heading back in, a big yacht with many people on it cruised on by. Peter was trying to cover his bum, But at that point we hit a collection of big waves so Peter was bouncing along, unable to do anything. They were looking at him, confused. We finally reached our beach, and everything was ok. Michael and I were dying of laughter. Peter was not amused. This bay is still amazing, though. We have driven up there every year since I was two, And it’s always fantastic. I hope this bay is protected so we can have even more special moments in the water.
