Balsam Lake, ON - Irene P

Every year for about a month, my family goes to Balsam Lake. The water is clear as crystals. You can always see fish swimming out from under the deck. Sometimes we go fishing. We catch an assortment of different fish, but the most common one is the sunfish.

In the morning when the sun is rising, my dad and I (sometimes my dog too) go out on our kayak to eat breakfast. We travel around the island till we find a place to eat.

There are big islands and smaller islands. I love exploring all the islands. There's one island that I call Death Island. I call it Death Island because everything on it is white. The ground, the trees, the plants, even the birds! Well, not the birds.

During the day my brothers and I go out for a swim. Befriending ducks, and whatever else we can find. Sometimes, my dog plays a game with us where my brothers or I swim under the dock and my dog guesses where we will come out.

It is one of my favourite places in the world because it’s filled with memories.
