I am a marathon swimmer and decided to swim in the Rough Water Swim in Hawaii.

Being in a older age group I thought I would be able to place in the top 3, 60 Plus. I was seeded in the final group for the start. Approx. 100 swimmers started to swim out of Sans Soui Beach. I made it out about 1 Km and circled the marker. I continued to swim but,saw that I was not progressing and actually was going backwards. I was caught in a Ocean current and was quickly swept 3-4 km off course. I was eventually pick up by the USA coast guard, 5 km off shore, along with 100 other swimmers. The Power of the Ocean---amazing.
