Pearl River, China - Andrew Zhang

My Watermark is watching people swim across Pearl River in 2006. Pearl River or Zhujiang River is a famous river in China. July 2006 was the first time the annual swim was hosted. I was afraid of water and swimming and that event changed my perspective. There were elite swimmers participating in the swim that were very competitive, but there was also less experienced swimmers. Seeing the swimmers that were not as strong, trying super hard to get across the river, motivated me to learn how to swim. I even joined clubs so I could practise more. This event significantly impacted my life, as it made me more open to trying new things.
