Lake St. Claire, ON - Molly R

When I was young at the lake, I would be in the boat in time to watch the sunrise over the still and calm and quite water. I would take a thousand photos of the landscape and my family. I would argue with my sister and one of us would end up falling in the water, my dad would make us wear life jackets even though we knew how to swim. I hated when we would drift into the shallow parts of the lake and our feet would touch the slimey rocks.

When I was young at the lake, we would fish from the crack of dawn until noon, my dad and I never brought my sister or my mom on those trips they hate fishing. We would drive the boat for miles to get to the best fishing spot. My dad would try to teach me how to drive the boat but I never wanted to learn.

When I was young at the lake, I would fall asleep on the boat and absorb the warmth of the sun. I would get sunburnt from being in the sun for five minutes. My cheeks would be flaky and red and hot, my mom would get mad at me for not wearing sunscreen. When it started to get to hot out I would cool off in the refreshing water.

As the sun goes down over the lake, we drove the boat back to shore going slowly because we didn't really want to leave. By the time we got back to the dock my hair would be a crazy mess. As I walked back to the truck, I would turn around and wave goodbye to the lake. Until next time Lake st. Clair.
