Sturgeon Lake, ON - Campbell S

Sturgeon Lake means a lot to me and my family. Now, the cottage is being enjoyed by the fourth generation. There is so much to do at our cottage because it is on the water. Some of the many activities that we do are swimming, boating, tubing, water skiing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, kayaking, canoeing, paddle boarding and that is just the start. All of these activities can’t be done without water.

We like to do a lot of these activities with our cousins. We often go to see our cousins that live and rely on the water in the lake all year round. We will all go out in our boats and swim in the middle of the lake together. We can spend all day swimming without even noticing all the time that has passed.

It is not just the humans that like the water. Our dogs know when we get close to the cottage. They jump around and wag their tails. As soon as the door opens they are running down to the lake and in the water. We have to warn our guests that if they start throwing our dog’s ball in the water for her to fetch, she won’t stop. There are so many dukes in the lake and they will come right up to the dock when we feed them. The loons are my favourite animals and if we are lucky one might swim by the cottage.

The cottage is so much fun for the whole family and I can’t even imagine how different it would be without sturgeon lake.
